New Zealand South Island

New Zealand’s south island seems purpose made for a road trip. With a population of just over one million spread out over 151,000km, it is sparse and varied. Tiny townships dot the inner lakes area of Canterbury where crystal clear water is surrounded by snow-capped mountain ranges.

Rolling green hills eventually give way to the rugged west coast which offers a prehistoric setting of dense Fiordland rainforest and imposing mountain peaks.
