Architecture is a concrete, tangible history of modern man. It reflects the style of the times. Of course in personality of the designer is manifest but you can learn volumes from the juxtaposition of high-rise flats and the slums of Fitzroy, or the decorative facade of a boom house up on the hill. Minimalism reflects an extreme from which we constantly rebound, either into fanciful and ingenious combinations of past styles or energetic and innovative interpretations of new materials. From t
Blue wrens twitter from bush to bush; statuesque night herons defy you to see them move; crimson rosellas and king parrots keep a watchful eye on you as they nuzzle open the seed they hold in a sculptural vice-like claw. Roosters crow and flash spiky combs; pelicans soar, as do eagles. Hawks hover. Gulls aggressively flock, ducks and geese promenade and take their families for walks. Penguins burrow and galahs roost. Owls watch and wait. All have feathers, and lay eggs. Some are pets.
You and I are personalities whereas the rest of society are characters...and what fascinating characters they are too. Spruikers cajoling, musos amusing, old fellas feeding gulls in the park, mechanics fiddling, clowns making up, mums mothering, models posing, toffee-nosed toffs toffing, fortune tellers telling and oldies doing all those things that oldies do. And more.
Just lying in the grass, thinking by the pond, clowning around in costume, searching under rocks and climbing trees, chores and drinking fountains, blowing bubbles and hanging around with the gang, tackling spaghetti, trying a trail bike, crashing the snow sled or just reading quietly under the table with puss. That's childhood.
More than a post card.....this selection of images depends on unusual angles, light, locations, combinations of old and new to present a point of view or bias. Each image begins to tell a story.....
The whole world is experiencing rapid climate change. Since the 1950s the average Australian temperatures risen by about 1°C This has resulted in more frequent heatwaves and a decrease in the numbers of frosts and cold days. Ver the last 50 years rainfall in the northwest of the continent has increased while much of eastern Australia and the far southwest have experienced a decline. Storms, dust clouds, floods, droughts are becoming commonplace.
A longer summer, a hotter heatwave, a wilder bushfire, a scarey storm, freaky weather, crop failure, fewer lambs, lower income? No, not just a bad year any more, this is Drought. Climate change, or global warming, is a fact and every farmer knows its consequences. Longterm & sometimes overwhelming problems of soil degradation, salinity & erosion, death of livestock, huge debt & bank foreclosure sometimes leading to personal tragedy, have changed our landscape and farming practices for ever.

The life of the teenager is one of extremes. One minute we're on a high, the next it's a bummer. It's great to be with the gang but so is being on your own to soak in the week's experiences. Fun, frolics, fashions, food, friends, family, future...and did I mention fones...sorry, phones! Drugs, sex and rock'n'roll are there to tempt us too, but they don't match up to a agme of cricket on the beach.

It is a time of anxiety, joy, secrecy, searching, finding, tasting and testing, sensing andfeeling. Friends, family, fun and frolics. Life is one big adventure.
