Paul Ross News :: Plumed Whistling Ducks.

I have just added a new Lightbox of a flock of this species (Dendrocygna eytoni), at a nearby dam. They had just landed and were strolling around the area searching for food. To my surprise, two stayed and more recently I was lucky enough to see (but unfortunately not photograph) eight baby ducklings on the dam with the adult ducks. I often hear them at night, as they fly by whistling - a long high pitched whistle. They are pretty birds with barred chestnut colored sides to breast and long white flank plumes.
