Paul Ross News :: Birds - Beach Stone-curlew.

Another new Lightbox has been added. I photographed this bird on coastal far North Queensland, Australia. The Curlew seemed intrigued by my presence and only when I approached a little too close, did he slowly move away. This large wading bird (Esacus neglectus), prefers to inhabit large open sandy beaches, mudflats, reefs and occasionally mangroves. It is generally uncommon in its range of northern coastal Australia.
