Paul Ross News :: Insect world Action - Spider Wasp Hunt.

Welcome to the world of Insects! These images are a sequence of a Spider Wasp injecting an egg into a paralysed Caterpillar, dragging the Caterpillar over rough terrain such as twigs and stones to a pre-prepared burrow, putting it into the burrow and filling the burrow with dirt and stones. The processing of the Caterpillar by the parasitic Spider Wasp took about 30 minutes but the burrow was prepared prior to the Wasp finding the Caterpillar so it was a very lengthy preparation period. Interesting observations!!
