Cathedral of Messina Italy

The Cathedral of Messina. Built during Norman time, it was consecrated by the Archbishop Berardo in 1197, in the presence of Emperor Henry VI of Swabia and Queen Constance of Hauteville. Its history has been turbulent and it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. Messina is the capital of the Italian Metropolitan City of Messina. It is the 3rd largest city on the island of Sicily, and the 13th largest city in Italy, with a population of more than 238,000 inhabitants i.
