If you're looking for a proven system to market your photography to a world of buyers, quickly and easily, without the technical headaches and without having to become a web-marketing guru, then this could be the most important web page you ever read!
Introducing the 100% Stock Photography Co-op!
"Who Else Wants A Complete Stock Photography
Business-In-A-Box For Less Than $1 A Day?"
Dear Fellow Photographer
There are a lot of online stock outlets available these days and if
you're here reading this then I'm guessing you've seen a few already and
you probably weren't all that impressed ...
Unbelievably most libraries will still try and take 50% of all
your sales, for no other reason than that's what they've always done.
Others will still insist on exclusive contracts, despite the
fact that no one has worked with film originals for years.
Few will give you any control over where your images are used and what
is paid for them. In most cases you just supply the product then
go along for the ride.
Many will want you to give up all rights to your images and pretend
that it makes no difference where an image has been used before, or where
it might turn up next.
Still others will even try to tell you that giving your images away for
peanuts makes good business-sense ... if you do it often enough!
And of course they'll all try to tell you ... directly or implied ...
that if you don't do it, someone else will. Take it or leave it, we don't care ...
Well if you've got 20 minutes to spare, I'd like to show you a better
way to market your images and grow your photography business. I guarantee
you it will be totally different to anything you might have seen so far.
What's more, it's a system that hundreds of photographers are using right
now to market their work and still keep control of their business, their photos
and their profits.
It's the 100% Stock Photography Co-Op
You get a 100% complete online photography business
... plug-and-play ... just add your images and you're ready to go.
You keep 100% control of your photos, we don't handle
your originals and we don't require exclusive access to your work.
You keep 100% control of your business, you set your
prices, you deal with the buyers and you always have the final say.
You keep 100% of your sales, we charge no commission
whatsoever.
Does that sound like it could work for you?
I'd be surprised if you said 'no' but first and foremost, you
should realise that this is a business partnership. If you're looking
to make loose change from your hobby, you're in the wrong place.
This is a serious business opportunity for experienced photographers only.
So if that sounds like you, and you're looking for a ready-to-go
platform to market your work and build your business, while keeping
total control of your images, then please read on ...
There is a lot of information here though, so I'd suggest you go
make a cuppa, take the phone of the hook and get comfortable.
We're about to work out if we can and should do business together,
so the first step of that process is for you to understand exactly
what we're offering. There is no point rushing that.
If you haven't got time for this now, I'd suggest you bookmark this
page and come back when you can give it 20 minutes of your undivided
attention.
Still here? Good ... let's dive right in!
The no commission aspect is usually the first 'difference'
that new photographers notice here ...
Traditionally stock libraries have deducted a commission, usually
50%, from each and every sale a photographer would make. The more
productive the photographer the more they end up paying, sometimes
tens of thousands of dollars a year.
Well OzImages was originally set up by a group of photographers who
weren't happy with that arrangement and figured there was a better way.
Instead we chose a co-operative approach where we would share the
costs of running our library among our members in the form of a modest
annual fee. After that all sales would go to the photographers.
Now some photographers do find this a bit hard to accept ... and we
regularly get questions like "But Why Should I Pay To Sell My Work?"
Well the fact of the matter is, no matter what 'structure' the
library uses, if you sell your work through an agency you will be
paying someone something for that service.
Our photographers simply choose to pay a small amount up front,
rather than give up thousands in commissions later.
Obviously this won't suit everyone, but the math is simple ... if
you are expecting to make more than a couple of sales a year, you're
going to be ahead with our structure.
If you aren't expecting that many sales, then you probably aren't
ready to for stock anyway!
One example will make all this abuntantly clear ...
Our of our early sales was for US$10,000.
If we'd been operating on a standard commission basis, the photographer
would have given up US$5,000 of that straight way.
Instead, since he'd already paid his annual subscription (and covered
it with a previous sale) this one was 100% profit.
Try telling him a commission structure would have been better!
We've had other photographers top $20K a year in sales and I can
assure you they too are very happy to pay our annual fee instead of
the standard 50% other libraries would charge!
DISCLAIMER: I should stress that any figures quoted here
are intended as examples only, and are not intended to indicate what
you personally might expect. There are a lot of variables involved
in stock photography ... quality, content and volume in particular ...
and individual results will vary!
Another concern for some photographers is whether our subscription
structure reduces our incentive to sell your images. Obviously we get
paid whether you make sales or not, so why should we care if you make
sales?
The truth is we actually have more incentive to make you sales than
your average commission-based stock library!
Sure, the traditional library does have to make sales to make money.
At first glance that seems like a pretty good incentive, but the fact
is, they don't really care who's images are sold as long as there are
sales.
Theoretically, all their sales could be images belonging to one
photographer and it would make little difference to their bottom line.
In fact, in a lot of libraries the old 80-20 rule applies and you'll
often find 80% of the sales go to 20% of the photographers. If you're
not one of the 20% then it's just too bad.
With OzImages, our ideal situation would be if all our photographers
did equally well, so they'd all renew each year and we wouldn't have to
worry about chasing round looking for new photographers!
So while the commission structure might offer an incentive for a
library to make as many sales as possible, our structure gives us a
very real incentive to look after each individual photographer as
best we can so they will stay with us long term.
So ask yourself, who really has the most incentive to look after
their photographers?
OzImages who wants every single one of their photographers,
or a Corbis or Getty who really doesn't seem to care any more?
The bottom line is that we do look after our photographers very well.
Our renewal rate is consistently up over 80% each month and the majority
of our members have been with us several years or more. In fact, a lot
of our founding members are still with us tens years later!
Now obviously 80% renewing still leaves 20% who don't renew and we
don't just write that off as 'inevitable'. There are generally valid
reasons but that doesn't mean we can't do our best to improve on it.
We address this in two main ways ...
First of all we have a fairly stringent application & selection process.
We'll go through it in detail later on, but basically we are going to
ask you to complete a short online application and from that we will try
to assess whether or not you are in a position to really make this work.
Secondly, the package itself is worth more than the subscription price.
Before you even make a sale you have immediate access to a complete and
comprehensive package of photography-business tools. You apply these to your
business as you see fit, but used properly any one of these can return your
subscription many times over.
We'll run through this in detail shortly, but the bottom line is that
this package of tools is exceptional value for money in it's own right.
You get a complete, professional web presence and all the necessary tools
to use that to connect to new and existing buyers. For a lot of our members,
when the sales start coming in they are simply the icing on the cake!
So what does all this mean to you?
You plug your work into a complete ready-to-go web marketing system.
You get serious exposure to an established Client list of thousands.
You get the tools and services to promote your work within our library.
You get step-by-step strategies to market your work to external buyers as well.
You get a cutting edge web presence without the design & development costs or the ongoing technical headaches
We promote the library for you in ways no individual photographer could ever hope to match.
Web Marketing & Search-Engine-Optimization is an art form on it's own.
A lot of photographers think they can just build a website and
then magically photo-buyers will queue up to order their photos ...
most are sadly disappointed.
Most buyers have little interest in visiting personal websites and
even if you do manage to build one they might like to use, generating
real photo-buyer traffic is no easy task ...
You can try to get high search engine listings on your own, but you
can forget about photography for a while ... it's a full-time job!
You can pay a professional service provider to do the job for you,
but it is an expensive, time consuming process and results are often
fleeting.
... Or you can plug your work into OzImages and let us do it all
for you as part of the deal!
Try a search for Stock Photography or Freelance Photographer
on Google right now and you'll usually find a couple of listings for OzImages
on the first page, usually at least one entry in the top 3!
You can't put a price on that sort of listing. That sort of exposure
is literally 'priceless' for every one of our Member photographers
Doesn't it make more sense to plug your work
into an established web marketing platform with a proven track record and
an existing Client list?
Here's what makes up the package.
Have a read through the list below and ask yourself if there's anything
there that you could put to use immediately to promote your work and generate
new business?
|
Online Photographer's Portfolio
... Share your very best work with multiple Clients at once, without ever
having to let your precious originals out of your sight. You get professional
Portfolio page which you can customize and update as you like, and share with
Photo Buyers as easily as sending an email invitation.
|
|
Searchable Image Catalogue ...
As a Member you are allocated space for up to 10,000 of your images. These
are fully indexed by our state-of-the-art search engine, giving Photo Buyers
everywhere quick and easy access to your images.
Our search engine is set up to recognize when a visitor is looking at one
of your personal pages, and in those situations will offer a individual search,
that only looks through your images.
|
|
Automatic Stock Photo Pricing ...
When a Photo Buyer wants to use your image they can get a price real-time
using our Stock Photography Price Calculator. This returns an appropriate
price based on the Clients' intended usage and your preferences. If the
price is right, they submit a License Request and you deliver the image
and collect payment.
|
|
Quote Request Option ...
If you prefer more control over your sales, you can have interested Photo
Buyers by-pass the Price Calculator and their details will be sent directly
to you. You prepare a suitable quote for them and deal directly with the
Client to close the deal.
|
|
Multi-Function Shopping Cart ...
As our Clients are often licensing images from multiple Photographers
our Shopping Cart is set up to let them request both License Requests
and Quote Requests, from several different photographers all at the
same time. Easy for the Client means more leads and sales for you.
|
|
General Photo Requests ...
Sometimes a buyer is in a hurry, or needs a lot of images, or
knows a request is going to be hard to fill ..... or simply
can't be bothered searching themselves.
In these cases they are encouraged to submit a
Photo Request. These are broadcast to all members. Those
photographers with suitable images respond; either by sending
low res previews directly to the buyer, or by loading suitable
images to a Photo Request Lightbox.
The Client then makes their selection and
contacts the respective photographers to arrange usage, payment
and delivery.
|
|
Freelance Photographer Search
.... Sometimes a Client needs a photographer in a certain area, or
with a specific specialty. They can search our photographer
database by name, location, region, specialty or subject. From
there they can view your Photographer Profile page, your Online
Portfolio, your Complete Collection and your Personal Website.
When they want to contact you, they will contact
you direct using a convenient web form, (we don't publish your
email address!) or one of your phone contacts.
|
That is the backbone of our operation and many of our busier photographers
are quite happy to just keep submitting their images as time permits and
let things grow. Over time they build up a good volume of suitable images
and they can leave it to run 'hands-free' and just deal with the sales
leads as they come through.
Then there are others who have a bit more time and decide to go more
pro-active. They'll work the system to make things happen from the
start, while they are building up the numbers. They invest time and
effort in the many 'extras' and really reap the rewards.
|
Themed Lightboxes ...
Group your work into themed sets as you load, add short descriptive
introductions and publish them. We then announce them through
our RSS newsfeeds, from where they are usually picked up by the major
search engines in a matter of days.
When that happens, people searching the internet for images that are
in your lightbox, will land on the OzImages site, directly on your
page. Delivering highly targeted prospective buyers right to your doorstep!
|
|
Shared Lightboxes ...
Using the same Lightbox arrangement, you can set up specific lightboxes
for specific Clients. Research a photo buyer, put together a Lightbox
of images that you know they can use ... and then use the Share Lightbox
function to invite them to check it out.
Some of our Photographers are sending out a 5 or more Lightbox Invites
every week to carefully selected/researched Clients with fantastic
results! It is a great way to keep in touch with your existing Clients
and to prospect for new buyers.
|
|
Client News Items ...
These contain your story ideas, news of your travels, what you've been
shooting, what you're planning to cover in coming months and so on. This
is like sending a query letter to 12,000+ of receptive editors every
month.
Some libraries charge $50 or more for their newsletter entries, with
OzImages it's all part of the service!
|
|
Front Page Galleries ...
These allow you to add a brief commentary to selected sets of your photos.
This makes a great platform for those special sets of images you know
someone is going to be interested in.
Got a photo essay you haven't been able to place? A great idea for a coffee
table book you want some feedback on? A special interest you'd like to share?
Submit them as a Gallery Exhibit and we'll show it on our home page where you
are guaranteed a substantial audience.
|
|
Personal Website ...
This is a mini-website we publish for you that ties together each of your
personal pages with a fully customized home page, and a specially designed,
search engine friendly 'landing page'.
Your Personal Website page provides easy access to your Online Portfolio,
Personal Search Engine, Photographer Profile, Gallery Exhibits, Themed
Lightboxes, Client News items and more.
This is ideal if you want to send your personal
Clients to view your work. They can search your images first and if
they can't find what they want, they have the full OzImages database
at their fingertips. So even if you can't fill the sales, they still
go away happy.
A Client who goes away happy is a Client who will come back! So even
if you miss the initial sale ... which you would have missed any way
... you will still get another shot at them next time!
|
|
Niche Content Pages ...
These are similar to lightboxes but are designed to secure high ranking
search engine listings for specific search phrases relevant to your
particular fields.
You assemble a series of images and some text based on a search phrase
that's particularly relevant to your work. We then convert that to a
search-engine-optimized web page and get it listed. Within two weeks
of launching these were began seeing top 3 results for many of the
pages the major search engines!
|
|
Tearsheet Gallery ...
Post examples of your previously published work. This gets a lot of
Client interest, especially when they are in 'browse' mode, and it's
no coincidence that many of these images end up being multiple sellers.
|
|
Member's Choice Selection ...
Every member has the option to rate any images in the library. This works
two ways ... it allows Members to flag any sub-standard images for Admin
review, which is an important part of our quality control strategy.
It also lets Members nominate particularly good images. We then use this
selection for the random image you may have noticed on the front page. We
also offer the Clients access to the complete list of Top Rated Images ..
the Members Choice Selection. This is an impressive showcase and it's no
surprise that it's extremely popular.
|
We also have a large selection of tools and features available behind the
scenes to help our photographers get the best possible value from their
membership.
|
Members Discussion Forum ...
This is an email based discussion group for our Member Photographers.
The talent and experience gathered here is incredible and the community
spirit and willingness to assist is remarkable. This is great if you
are looking for advice on equipment or processes, legal issues, pricing
& contracts, copyright issues, scanning, digital work and more.
Whether you've been in the game for years or you're just starting out,
this is sure to be a great asset. In fact, many people have actually
told us that our Photographers Discussion group alone is more than
worth the annual subscription fee!
The group has been archived and can now be searched to find past advice
and information on many, many photography-related topics. This is a
resource that will continue to grow and improve even further as time
goes on.

and assigns a special ranking. The result is a list that gives some particularly
useful insights into what buyers are looking for at any given time. Check it
regularly because you will be surprised!
|
So can you see any of those features giving your business a boost?
OzImages has evolved as an innovator and a leader but to be totally honest,
we never really had a choice!
As each new photographer joined us, and each new photo buyer
registered, we'd get more feedback and more new ideas. Now I don't know about
you, but if someone tells me there might be a better way to do something, I
can't help myself ... I'm going to check it out.
So our package of services just keeps on growing and the way we do things
just keeps on getting better and you reap the rewards.
When you get involved here you aren't just purchasing marketing services
for your business. You are joining a group of like minded professionals
in a co-operative effort to grow both your own business and the organization
itself.
Does this sound like something you might like to get involved with?
I'm certainly hoping it does but as I said at the start, we're looking to
go into business with you, so I'd be concerned if you weren't a little skeptical
and I'd be surprised if you didn't want some third-party references!
So for starters, here's some feedback from our photographers ...
|
I just want to let you know yet again that I
consider OzImages the best run internet-based
photo-library I know. I have looked at a lot of them and I belong to
another but as far how the site runs, search-engines, speed etc
OzImages beats it hands down!
David Hancock -- Australia
I've been a member here a month now and had
four requests. Each one has responded well to a professional,
friendly and definitive approach to managing the sale process.
Dave Underwood -- Australia
I have been meaning to thank you for the excellent stock agency and
website you have created and constantly improved. I am going on two
years as a member (after observing for one year) and have been constantly
pleased with the layout, functionality, and professionalism of OzImages.
Roger Soule -- UK
Thanks!!!! I have been with OzImages a month now and I am very impressed
with everything about the site as well as the support I have received ....
Dave Pattinson -- Canada
I made my first sale about 3 weeks after I joined, which was a
bit of a surprise since I have still only loaded 39 images. The shot
that prompted the initial enquiry was an over from a shoot I did for
a magazine in the UK about five years ago. The client didn't end up
using that shot, but commissioned me to shoot a new one plus two
others........Thanks! Steven Pam -- Australia
I just want take the opportunity to give my compliments
to you for the great site, well structured, fast and also the support and
information are great. So thanks! Pauline Mollema -- Italy
Thanks for the suggestion on the Galleries Matt. I
set up three last month and already they've had more hits than my own
website gets in a year! Dale Worthington -- USA
I believe that OzImages is up there on top
with the best of what stock photography has to offer! Everyone that
places photos on the site is very unique and careful to photograph
their art with utmost care! You want to find a great photograph?
Start with OzImages! LaDonna Brezik -- USA
OzImages has to be one of the best deals on the
web for stock photographers! I recommend OzImages without hesitation,
and see the potential for a long, bright future for this vibrant and growing
agency. Look out Corbis and Getty!! Colin Radford -- Australia
... All up, OzImages is turning out to be a fantastic resource for effective
promotion and sales coordination, without being bled dry by thirsty stock
agencies. It's one of the best investments I've ever made and I really
appreciate your work Matt - thanks. Stuart Hutchison -- USA

Want more? You can do a photographer search to find someone who
does similar work as you or lives in a similar location and has got a
well established presence here. Ask how it's working for them and what
they think of OzImages.
I'm quite confident that most will tell you exactly the same thing.
OzImages works well and they're proud to be a part of it!
Of course none of this works without Photo Buyers.
We realized right from the start that the best thing we could
ever do for our photographers was to give them great value and superb
service ... and then look after our photo-buyers even better!
We bend over backwards to give our Clients all the convenience of the
big agencies served up with good old-fashion personal service!
They deal directly with the photographers, so they get that one-on-one
personal touch that so many people crave these days. Especially creative
people!
Happy Clients come back more often and buy more photos ...
and our Photographers make more sales.
Have a look at some of the Photo Buyer feedback ...

What a lot of big stock houses seem to have forgotten is that most
photo buyers are in their jobs because they have a real interest in
photography.
Many of those we deal with actually started out as photographers and
most of them really value their interactions with our photographers.
So a lot of the automated whizz-bang sales processes the big sites
use just distance the creatives from the photographers and alienate
them from the very reason they got into the job in the first place!.
I believe that is why our Client list just keeps on growing.
These photo buyers must know there are other places where they
could buy photos cheaper & faster.
Look in any trade magazine and you'll see dozens of full page
ads from the microsites, all fighting amongst themselves to see
who can give their photos away the cheapest!
And yet we get dozens of new buyers coming to try us out every
week ... and they keep coming back.
So I'll say it again and again ... this industry is built on
talent and skill, and there will always be buyers willing
to pay fair prices for quality photography.
So even if you choose not to get involved with OzImages today,
please take this one thing away with you ...
You don't need to give your work away for peanuts to survive!
Yes, there are plenty of low budget buyers who will offer you a
pittance for your images, but the final decision is always yours.
I don't believe any talented photographer needs to take that route
just to survive.
At OzImages we've developed a system that recognizes the needs and
preferences of the types of buyers we want to deal with. We look
after them as no one else seems to be prepared to, and they in turn
looking after our Photographers.
It's really nothing more than common-sense marketing, but it has
evolved into a classic win-win situation for everyone.
So are you starting to get a feel for what we're about here?
I know told you we were different, but on it's own that doesn't mean a
lot. The important question you need to be asking yourself is whether
those differences might be useful to you and your business?
If you are think yes, or even if you're thinking maybe,
I want to remove all the risk for you so you can
find out for sure.
If you've read this far I'm thinking you have to be a little bit
interested, so I'm going to encourage you to take the next step now to
find out, before you have to make any lasting decision.
Your time is precious though, so I do want to make sure you are clear
on what's involved before you go any further.
This is a commercial service for experienced photographers.
We require a high level of technical skill and you should have extensive
photographic experience.
You must take great photos, you must understand what
makes a great photo, and you must have the ability to edit out those
that don't make the grade.
Commercial experience isn't a prerequisite, but if you're new to the
business side of things you must be prepared to invest some time and
effort to get up to speed.
Stock experience isn't a pre-requisite, but again, you need to be prepared
to invest some time and effort into the learning process.
We provide a great learning environment for all of this and we offer
a lot of resources to assist those who are new to any of this, but the
onus is on you to do what it takes to master the necessary skills.
How's that for a sales pitch!
No doubt it scares a few people off, but that's OK. We are looking for
people who will join with us to develop a long term business partnership
and we really have no desire to waste our time or energy on anyone who
won't help themselves.
But again, you're still here reading so I've got to think you might
be someone who will work with us and will make this work. So how about
you take a little more time to find out for sure?
From here it's a simple four-step process:
You register below as a Pending Member. This only takes a
minute and there is no cost and no obligation whatsoever.
You prepare a short application submission; just twelve
sample photos and a bit of background information.
We review that to assess whether or not you will add value
to our library and have a reasonable expectation of making this work.
Once we approve your application you can come inside and try
us out totally risk free for 30 days, to find out for yourself if this is right for you.
Does that sound fair enough?

If you are wondering about the subscription, that is currently

How much would you pay for a page one listing on Google?
The good news for you is that our co-operative approach lets us share

for us.
But affordable doesn't mean cheap.
While we're not a big budget operation, we are living proof that good ideas,
great people and real commitment can compete with the big players. We run
with a small but efficient staff, we don't require expensive office space, we
have few overheads, and whenever possible we contract work out to experts.
As a result we operate on a flat-rate annual subscription that should be
within the reach of virtually any working photographer. We also offer a couple
of easy installment plans and a monthly payment option to make it even more
accessible.
If you're serious about fast-tracking your online photo business and exposing
yourself to a world of new markets on the Internet I think you'll agree this
is exceptional value.
The more experienced photographers will be quick to realise that just one or
two average sales will more than cover the cost. In fact, we normally find,
the more experienced the photographer, the more impatient they are to get started!
Even those photographers who are new to the business side of things usually
recognize that the support and training network here is going to be priceless.
On the other hand, if the price makes you flinch, that's good. It really is,
because I don't want anyone getting involved who isn't ready. Which probably
means you should take a pass for now.
Regardless of where you find yourself on that scale though, I think you're
about to find it's even better because as I said earlier, I want to remove
the risk for you entirely.
You don't pay a cent until you are sure
that OzImages is right for you!
You see I've written this rather lengthy letter with just one purpose in mind ...
to give you enough information so you can decide if OzImages MIGHT be a good
match for your business.
You don't need to be certain. You don't need to commit, and you certianly
don't need to pay anything.
I just want to ask if this is something that you'd like to look into?
If you've read this far then I'm going take a guess that you're saying 'yes'
or 'maybe' right about now?
If that's the case, then I want you to take the next step right now. It's
quick, it's simple, it places you under no obligation and it won't cost a
cent!

Well that's about it for now. I want to thank you for sticking with me through
to the end. I know there is a lot of information here but I hope you appreciate
why I wanted you to have it all up front.
If you are wondering if this is right for you, the easiest way to find out is to
take the next step. You'll find
full contributor guidelines in the Pending Member's Area that should answer any
remaining questions.
If they don't you can always contact me here and I
will answer all your questions personally.
The main thing is to act now. Experience tells me if you leave now without
doing something we probably won't hear from you again. This whole opportunity
will end up as one of those what if's you ponder on for years to come.
You really don't want to find yourself a year from now, scratching your
head and wondering whether that OzImages thing might have worked?
Why wonder when you can know for sure!
I'll look forward to hearing from you and working with you,
Kind Regards,

PS. Please note: We made a decision some time back to cap our membership at
500 to preserve photographer earnings and keep this at a manageable size. We
value our interactions with our photographers and we don't ever want to get
too big and impersonal.
I don't want to rush you into this, but I do want you to be aware
that once we reach 500 members we will be instituting a waiting list and new members
will only be accepted if an existing member resigns. If you're thinking of coming
back later, be aware that things might have changed.
If you are seriously interested, register now and
secure your place!
